Founded on the Gospel of Luke 24:13-35, the Walk to Emmaus initiative invites you to have a closer walk with Christ through worship, study, and active participation. Your Walk to Emmaus experience is designed to:
1. Deepen your faith, expand your spiritual life and
offer you God’s grace through Christian love.
2. Increase the faith of your congregation,
empowering you for Christian leadership.
3. Expand your Christian involvement in the
local community and its impact around the world.
The Coastal Bend Emmaus Community supports Walk to Emmaus and related initiatives by providing regularly-scheduled three-day retreat experiences designed to offer you a sense of peace, unconditional Christian love and a break from your daily routines and distractions.
During the 72-hours, you will worship, pray and participate in Christian music and small group participation. You will hear testimony from five local clergy and ten lay people from your community and experience the love and grace of God through acts of service and prayer offered by a vital and loving Coastal Bend Emmaus Community.
The Windmill Emmaus 4th Day Group elected its first Board of Directors in 1992 and has blossomed ever since. We are located in the Brush Country of South Texas, encompassing most of Bee, Karnes, San Patricio, McMullen and Live Oak counties.
In the past twenty five years, many have attended Upper Room Ministries Emmaus Walks at Zephyr Baptist Encampment, sponsored by the Windmill 4th Day Group, with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If you are interested in attending a Walk to Emmaus weekend sponsored by the Windmill Emmaus 4th Day Group, please send an e-mail to Windmill Emmaus at windmillprayers@gmail.com.
The Walk to Emmaus is a spiritual renewal and formation experience intended to strengthen the local church through the development of Christian disciples and leaders.
The Walk to Emmaus experience begins with the prayerful discernment and invitation from a sponsor who has previously completed a Walk. Once the invitation is accepted, an application is completed. The Emmaus leaders prayerfully consider each applicant and in God's time, the person is invited to attend. At this point, the applicant (called a Pilgrim), is invited to attend a three-day experience where they have the opportunity to have God's grace and love revealed to them through other believers.
Following the three-day experience, Pilgrims are invited to join in small groups which support one another in their ongoing walk with Christ. This accountable discipleship allows the participants to develop their individual gifts and servant-leadership skills, and offers encouragement to find ways to live out their individual call to discipleship at home, church, and in their community.
